Have A Great Day

Mar 2, 2022 | The Chuck Wagon

Have you ever gotten up in the morning and wondered “What’s going to jump off today?” In other words, what’s going to happen that’s out of my control to put a damper on my day.

Unfortunately, there are many of us who have these thoughts with an anticipation of something coming up that could derail an otherwise good day. Think about it, do you “hope” it will be a good day or are you determined to make it a good day? What many fail to realize is that we have more control over how each day is going affect us than we think. The Bible tells us:

“For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” (Rom.8:5; NASB)

When we set out each day determined to allow the will of God to play out in our lives, it changes our outlook on everything that happens. It doesn’t mean that everything is going to go your way. But it will change your reactions to the things that do happen. Think about how many times in your life your reactions to a seemingly negative situation made it worse. Fear, uncertainty, insecurity, and eventually anger can, and generally will, add needless heartache to almost any situation. The Bible goes on to say:

“For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace” (Rom. 8:6)

You might say “who wouldn’t like to have peace every day, that’s just not reality.” I believe that if you were to start each day by determining that you were going to set your mind on the things of the Spirit of God, your days would get progressively better. You would see the fruit produced by that attitude and realize God’s love in it all.  The wisdom of Proverbs tells us:

“Give me your heart, my son, and let your eyes delight in my ways.” (Prov. 23:6)

When we set our minds on seeing life through God’s eyes, hardship no longer feels like hardship. We see that God is teaching us through the things that happen in our lives. Believing that there is a positive lesson in everything that God allows to happen in your life will change the way you view everything. God’s desire is to bless and prosper us if our hearts are to please Him. We show that desire by the way we choose to think and live.

When you wake up tomorrow, start your day by praising God for the day. Set your mind on seeing the goodness of God in everything. It’s not easy to do when things aren’t going your way. But maybe your way isn’t the best way. If you set your mind on seeing God’s love in everything, it will bring the peace of the Holy Spirit into you even when things don’t look so good at first glance. It truly is worth every ounce of effort you put into it.

Have a great week and God bless you all.
